West Philly Runners: WPR Movie Night This Wednesday & Weekly Update

Congratulations, West Philly Runners took first place at the first ever 26 x 1 Mile Relay Challenge. We had some really amazing competitors: Fishtown Beer Runners who raced a grueling ultra with each runner having to do 2-4 miles a piece (!); and Monster Milers who outnumbered our own team and brought dogs to the party. The rain held off all morning, the Horticultural Center was wonderfully shady, and (most importantly) we had plenty of ice for the beer; we couldn't have hoped for more in late July. I can't wait to hold the race again, possibly in early Fall between the Rock and Roll and Philadelphia Marathons - it would be cooler and could provide a much needed respite from long runs. Coming up:

Post-run Running Movie Night/Casey's Moving Party. This Wednesday after the WPR run. I just happened upon a theater projector and decided that I should probably start hosting some movie screenings! Join me in celebrating the life and times of Casey Osborne as we reluctantly send her on her way to San Francisco. We'll be watching Without Limits projected on the side of Ben's house (63 N. Wiota St), which is where we'll end our run this week.

Olympics Watching Events

Philadelphia Runner. Sunday August 5th @ 2pm. Free food and drinks and a chance to win Puma running shoes. Check it out and register for a chance to win free Pumas.

Fishtown Beer Runners. Thursday August 9th @ 7:45pm. This event is in our back yards at the International House so I expect a great WPR showing! Fantastic event description from the folks at International House. Wristbands for beer will be a mere $10 (available at the door), but please be polite like a proper English gentleman and RSVP via TicketFly prior to the event.

Wissahickon Wanderers Track Meets

2012 Back on My Feet Track Meet & Fundraiser. Tuesday August 21. Compete in the 400, 800 1600, 3200, and/or distance medley.
