Love Your Cobbs Creek Park

Thank you to all of you who made it out on Saturday morning, despite the drizzle and some hangovers. The cleanup was a good time and we put a serious dent in the false canopy of invasive plants that have been preventing native plants from taking root. Another highlight was drinking the sap from a giant grape vine, thanks to the survival guide insights of our leader, Joe Caesar, pictured to the right.

Upcoming Events:

Saturday, March 31. Cobbs Creek Park Trail Work. We're going to have a group volunteering at the Cobbs Creek Park cleanup. We'll meet up at 63rd and Walnut at the Cobbs Creek Ice Rink parking lot at 10am. If you are coming later, no problem, just give me a call 267-324-9948.

Sunday, 4/1. Two choices of events: Schuylkill Banks 1 Mile Time Trial. What's a time trial race? Instead of starting everyone out at once, only one person starts. Exactly 10 seconds later, the next runner starts, and every 10 seconds, they send out the next. According to the organizers, it’s very exciting to run and watch! $10 entry.
(David) April('s A) Fool(s) Run to The Grey Lodge. Fishtown Beer Runners Commander in Chief leads a parade of mischievous fools north along the (in)famous Frankford Ave to the quite famous Grey Lodge. Sounds like an excuse for mid-day Sunday run and drinks to me.

Monday, April 2. NCAA Tournament Finals. Paul is hosting West Philly Runners at his place - 418 S 43rd - to watch the final game on Monday night! Game starts at 9pm and Paul will have some beer and appetizers. Feel free to bring food/drinks of your own if you would like.

Wednesday, April 4. City Year Cobbs Creek Park Cleanup. Katie is working for City Year and is planning a Spring Break service day to clean up part of Cobbs Creek near Mt. Moriah cemetery. The event is happening from 10-3pm (lunch provided for volunteers). Meet at 65th and Cobbs Creek Pkwy (on the 13 trolley line).

  1. Man that 6-miler was fun! Whoever designed those runs must be really handsome.
