Thanksgiving

First of all, congratulations to all the folks who ran the marathon and half on Sunday. We had an amazing group of West Philly Runners who came out to run (bandits and official registrants, both)! I was really amazed to hear how well everyone did. But I also want to recognize the two men who died during the run. Their deaths are incomprehensible and deeply saddening. I want to extend my condolences to their families and friends.

This week our run coincides pretty closely with the Thanksgiving break. Consequently, many of our usual runners will not be able to make it, myself included. I do hope that you will come out to run if you are in town. Remember to introduce yourselves with a quick role-call before the run (a great idea I picked up from the Fishtown Beer Runners) and have a drink for me.

11/27: "Dirty Bird" 15K Trail Run. Pretzel City Sports is organizing this run on Thanksgiving Sunday in Birdsboro, PA. I am definitely running this! Contact me if you would like to join up and carpool. More race info here.

12/15: Holiday Lights Run with Fishtown Beer Runners and South Philly Striders. This is a wonderful and festive way to meet folks in some other local running clubs. These are beer loving folk! The run is on Thursday December 15th at 7 pm and we're starting at Broad and Oregon (you can take the Broad Street Line there) and then we'll be running through the beautifully, elaborately decorated neighborhoods of South Philly to Cantina Los Caballitos at 12th and Passayunk (again right near the Tasker/Morris Broad Street stop. 12/31: Patriots' 5K. This is a run David April of Fishtown Beer Runners is organizing in Trenton on New Year's Eve morning. More info here.

1/15: "Chilly Cheeks" 7.2Mi Trail Run. This is the most gnarly thing you can do in mid-January. This one will make you feel like a total bad ass. More info here.
