WPR e-jawn for September 16th

Some words from the management

There are so many events coming up that I'm not even going to say anything here. Well except that Rana is hosting us at her house after the run this week. It would be great if folks could contribute beers/food so make sure to check out the information on the Facebook group.

Upcoming événements du sport

Rana's Hosting WPR! - This Wednesday after the run

Rana's hosting WPR at her place after this week's run!

She says, "Breakfast tacos, mojitos will be served because summer is not over. You don't have to, but feel free to contribute to the beer/food spread!"

RSVP at the link above so she knows approximately how many people to expect.

Fall Trail Series - Each Thursday in September

Run in one or more of the FREE informal trail races (organized by the Wissahickon Wanderers) on Thursday evenings in September: Sep 3, 10, 17, 24 starting at 6:30 from Valley Green Inn
The distances range generally from three to five miles through the woods of the Wissahickon and along Forbidden Drive. The trail series races are FREE and open to absolutely everyone. The 2015 Course Layouts will be managed by various Wanderers.

Run to Work Day - Friday September 18h

Once again, Be Well Philly has teamed up with Philadelphia Runner and Run215 for the second annual #RuntoWorkPHL on September 18th. The idea came up last year after BWP shared an item about how more and more people across the country are opting for running commutes. It launched a Twitter convo with a few local runners that eventually turned into a petition asking Mayor Nutter to sanction an official Run to Work Day Philly. In the meantime, they decided to go ahead and just plan one themselves to get the ball rolling and Run to Work Day Philly was born.

We All Run for Ice Cream - Saturday September 19th

We'll start our run at Little Baby's Ice Cream's Cedar Park Embassy (49th and Baltimore) and then run to the World Headquarters at 2311 Frankford Ave in Fishtown. Why? Because Ice Cream!

Read about it on Be Well Philly.

Belmont Plateau Guided Trail Run - Friday September 18h

Want to explore more of Fairmount Park? Join me on this Sunday's Guided Trail Run. Register today - Fairmount Park Conservancy members run for free! (Non-member cost is $10).

WPR and Philadelphia Runner Bishop's Collar run - Wednesday September 23rd

Hey, have you heard? Pope Francis is coming to town. In honor of his holiness, we're running to the Bishop's Collar in Fairmount with Philadelphia Runner. I know this is a big departure from our usual routine of staying in West Philly, but it's a special occasion, so I hope you'll join us!

Fishtown Beer Runners/WPR POPE Run - Thursday September 24th

Fishtown Beer Runners was one step ahead of us on this idea so we're hopping on their bandwagon and joining them for a run to the POPE. For the truly stout of heart, there will be a run to Fishtown to their start point, while others are welcome to either travel some other way or just run directly to the POPE. All that matters is that we all celebrate POPE weekend together.

The Rescue Run 5K - Saturday October 3rd

The Rescue Run 5K  is Philly’s first race to benefit and promote rescue and adoption.  Annually in the Fall, hundreds of runners gather at the Navy Yard to race in honor of the dogs we love so much.  Numerous rescue groups and shelters attend the Rescue Rally following the race.  Racers, spectators, family and friends are able to meet furry friends for adoption and get more information about volunteering with local animal shelters.  Proceeds go to continuing the mission of The Monster Milers, Philly’s shelter dog running and rescue, 501c3 non-profit volunteer group.  You in?  Register today.

This week's routes to Rana's House

4537 Spruce St.

6 Miler
