WPR Sportscast for Wednesday April 29

A few words about this week's run

Tis the season for awesome races. The West Philly Runners tribe took home the gold at Lenape Survival Challenge this past weekend and we can be sure that there will be countless personal victories at Broad Street Run this weekend. Speaking of BSR, check out the details on the post-race party at Kyle's house below.

Upcoming run sports

Broad Street Run After-Party! - May 3 12pm til we drop

Broad Street Run is a special race, partly because it's Philly's biggest, but also because 10 miles is a great distance; it's far enough to make it a very worthy goal, but also quite within reach for most runners. So many of you are running the race that we want to celebrate like we do each year with a party. Go out and run, get a bite to eat with your family/friends that cheered you through the finish, head home and shower/change, and then come on over to Kyle's house (224 S. 46th Street - 46th and Locust)! We can't wait to celebrate with you!

26 x 1 Mile Marathon Relay - May 17 10:30am

This is West Philly Runners' official race, organized by us and designed to appeal to all runners. Marathons are hard, so we're going to take it easy and run a marathon with a team of 13, each only doing 2 miles. On the down time, relax and enjoy a picnic with friends on the beautiful grounds of the Horticultural Center. This is the race's fourth year and the first of our partnership with Fairmount Park Conservancy so we are officially running a legitimate race with a permit and everything. Alcoholic drinks are technically legal in the park, so that's part of the fun.

There are still spots open on the West Philly Runners team, but it's filling up fast so sign up!

ODDyssey Half Marathon - June 14

Between the costume contest, beer tent, and the awesome course through Fairmount Park, this is (in my humble opinion) the best half-marathon in Philly. Register under our team when it asks how you found out. If we get a group of 10 together, we'll have our own party tent that we will stock with beer and a blowup monkey doll. The race is likely to sell out (it's small - only 4000 runners) so register soon.

This week's routes (to Local 44 Bottle Shop)

6 Miler
