Get Pumped Up

I'm more excited about running than I have been in a long time, which is really bizarre, since I'm actually injured and can't run any serious distance. Actually when you stop to think about it, it isn't that strange. There's so much more to running than the running... I've always had as much fun at the pre-race pasta party as I have running a race; been happier while delusional in Julia's van during Ragnar than scaling a mountain at 3am on an 8mile run (which is saying a lot, because that was amazing); and more content drinking a post-race beer with good friends then passing my mark in a race. With cherry blossoms and crocuses blooming in early March, I can't help but get unreasonably pumped about the running season and to good times with good friends.

We're running to Heeju's place this week! She's throwing a "Here Comes the Sun" party. It's the perfect theme with Daylight Savings Time coming up in less then a week and temperatures expected to be in the 60s on Wednesday. If you're like me and take any opportunity to get decked out, I expect to see you in some exquisite Springtime garb! Heeju's place is at 4401 Spruce Street, Apt 206. Call her at 607-351-4881 to get in since her buzzer doesn't work.

Upcoming Events!!
Cobbs Creek 5K is on 4/21. I know, I know, I can't shut up about this race, but this is the race to run this Spring, because it is the race of the West Philly Runners. It is a also great opportunity to really invest in West Philly. All proceeds go to support recreational programs for kids in the Cobbs Creek area and registration is only $20.

WPR will be taking part in some upcoming trail work days coming up. We will be working alongside The Philadelphia Parks Department to get the park trail ready for the big race. Without our help, the trail won't be ready in time for the race, so come help out! Volunteer days are this Sunday 3/11, Saturday 3/17, 3/24, 4/7 and Sunday 4/15 from 10am to 2pm (don't feel like you have to be there the whole time). Get in touch with me if you want to take part.

Lots more events coming up...check out last week's post to see 'em.

Routes for 3/7 (ending up at Heeju's, 44th and Spruce)...
