WPR e-jawn: May 17th

Some Words from the Management

I try to avoid shameless plugs about my personal life in these emails, but it seems worth sharing that I'll be getting married this weekend to my wonderful partner, Arwin, our fearless fourth looper and occasional die hard runner. The wedding is small, but we would love to invite all of you to our house (5019 Hazel Ave) on Sunday for a big open house post-wedding party. It's a BYO/potluck affair in the timeless West Philly tradition.

I hope you can make it out to the party on Sunday and to our weekly run on Wednesday. We'll be ending this week's run at Local 44 Bottle Shop!

Upcoming Events

WPR 26 x 1 Mile Mararthon Relay - Sunday May 28th

Our very own annual race is back again and you won't want to miss it. Join the WPR team or start your own with friends. Each 13-person team runs two 1-mile laps to complete a team marathon. Teams can have fewer than 13 people and each runner does more than 2 laps. You'll need your own baton (ours is a pair of giant novelty scissors) and a torch for your team's final 0.2 mile victory stretch. During the race, it's a giant party since there's a bunch of down time while your teammates run their miles. All registration fees are being donated to The Woodlands, which is also the location for the race.

See Chicks Run - Sunday June 4

This 5k run/walk and 10K run is just for the ladies...and one rooster. Our beautiful out and back course along the Wissahickon is flat and fast and welcomes runners and walkers of all abilities. Youth runners are welcome! Everyone loves the ladies tech t-shirts from this race - don't miss out!
Fellas - if you want to be only guy among all those chicks...take a chance in the Lucky Guy Lottery. The winner gets to be the Rooster and run the race.

ODDyssey Half Marathon - Sunday June 11

I would argue that the ODDyssey is Philly's best half marathon with a fun course and a costume contest. It's also a great chance for us to celebrate as a club. Once we get 20 people on our team, we're going to get a party tent and we're going to party. We want you in our tent! Join the team! More importantly, once we get 30 people, we'll earn a port-a-pot, which will be glorious!

We have 19 people on our team so far!

Mayor's Cup - Saturday August 12

Come join us on the plateau for a day of hanging with all the runners in Philadelphia! There will be food and drink and music and lots of sun. Also a tent, and probably a table. Maybe a kiddie pool full of ice? There will be running but you don't have to run to come participate. The race will need non-running volunteers and Kyle will need his group of super cooling providers of coolness to runners. And you can just come hang.

The Philly 10K - Sunday August 27

The Philly 10K is inspired by our city’s passion for community and running.
The race is a 6.2 mile loop through South Philly and Center City, passing through two of Philadelphia’s most vibrant corridors (13th Street + East Passyunk) and past one of its most historic (Italian Market) along with 76 city blocks that most of us have walked, shopped, biked, BBQ’d, slept, or front stoop’d on at some point in our lives.

Put on by a group of proud and dedicated Philadelphians since 2014, we celebrate the history, diversity, and unique neighborhood fabric that makes each of us proud to call this city home.

Run Ends at Local 44 Bottle Shop
44th and Walnut
