The WPR e-jawn: May 4th Edition

Some words from the management

We came, we ran, we got completely soaked. Congratulations to all of you who ran on Sunday and seriously thank you if you were out there cheering! I have never been more proud of being a runner in this city than when I saw all the people standing out in the rain to cheer for a bunch of crazy people who thought that running in the rain was a fun plan. Read on for your next run adventure.

Important Sportsing Updates

Cinco de Mayo Adopt A Running Buddy & Fun Run - Thurs May 5, 6pm

We're teaming up with Philadelphia Runner and the Monster Milers (coolest running group in Philly?) and some adorable, adoptable dogs to do a super fun event for Cinco de Mayo. Wear a sombrero and bring your own maracas. We'll have some post run aperitivos y cervezas (snacks and beers) back at the store.

West Philly Workout Series - May 9 (& 2nd Mon of the month thru August)

Join Philadelphia Runner every 2nd Monday May thru August for a series of workouts starting from the University City shop. Run a short distance (under 1 mile!) to a nearby West Philly location for an invigorating workout led by one of their guest trainers. All levels are welcome! Get outside and enjoy 25% off at honeygrow UPenn afterward!

Time: 6:30pm start @ Philadelphia Runner - University City 3621 Walnut St.
End: hgUPenn 3731 Walnut St.
*Gear check available, bags will be moved from Philadelphia Runner to hgUPenn

Run to Herban Quality Eats - Wednesday May 11

We're changing things up next week and taking our weekly run to Herban Quality Eats, a healthy alternative for our post-run hangout. Herban will be providing a free coconut water for all runners as well as a 10% discount on the food. On top of that, 5% of sales will be donated to Open Streets PHL.

You're probably asking yourself, "What about the beer?!" We've got you covered. Thanks to Yards Brewing Co., we'll have beers on hand and they'll be free to anyone with a wristband, which is yours for a suggested $5 donation (again, all proceeds will go to Open Streets PHL).

ODDyssey Half Marathon Team - June 12

We've teamed up with the South Philly Striders to form a power team named West Philly and South Philly Run in Stride for this year's ODDyssey Half Marathon. I would argue that the ODDyssey is Philly's best half marathon with a fun course and a costume contest. It's also a great chance for us to celebrate as a club.

We've got our 30-person team so the party tent is ours and it's going to be along the finish line, in the shade with our own port-a-john. There's no pressure now, just join the team! Poop like a king! Here's the link to register.

This week's routes to Pasqually's
43rd and Walnut
