WPR Sportscast for Wednesday January 14th

A few words about this week's run

With temperatures dropping, I've felt this need over the last month to put out positive messages about how it's not that bad and how we're all going to have a great time. That's because I was foolish enough to actually think that cold weather would stop you all from coming out. Last week totally proved me wrong. We counted 45 people at the bar at one point and at least four runners came out for the first time. So congratulations, you crazy, awesome crew, you've really shown me what's what.

Upcoming run sports

Chilly Cheeks Trail 7 Miler - Reading, PA January 25th 11am

One of my personal favorite races. I'll let the organizers describe it, "It has more hills than any of our races, just as many rocks and roots, bone chilling temperatures as a rule, a crawl up Mt. WhaDaFug II and on-course obstacles covered with snow during certain years (as in 2014) that you ONLY know are there once they cause you to end up face first on the terra firma." While the BEER BUS from Philly is full, there have been whispers of others who would like to drive up this year, so I'm sharing the event here. You all should chat about how you want to do this and carpool.

Registration is Open for ODDyssey Half Marathon - June 14

Yes, it's a bit early to be talking about a race in June, but this is a great race and worth looking into now. The race is likely to sell out (it's small - only 4000 runners). Plus, between the costume contest, beer tent, and the awesome course through Fairmount Park, this is (in my humble opinion) the best half-marathon in Philly. Register under our team when it asks how you found out. If we get a group of 10 together, we'll have our own party tent that we will stock with beer and a blowup monkey doll.
