We all love running and I'd wager that a good number of us love dogs. Given these two mutual loves, I have several announcements this week.

First of all, there's a dog out there that wants to be adopted. My friend sent me this description, "...a friend found a dog in West Philly that is energetic and would do best with an active person. She is a sweet dog, housebroken, great with people of all ages, good with dogs, crate trained. But he cannot keep her because he already has a dog and feels two would be too much to handle long term. He is in the process of getting her microchipped and spayed and looks to re-home her for a small fee ($50)."
Secondly, if you don't want the responsibility of owning a dog, but you want to play with one occasionally (and help out some homeless, sheltered dogs), check out Monster Milers. Their mission is to connect Philly runners (that's you) with shelter dogs as running companions. "We provide ongoing support for PAWS (Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society) through sponsored adoption events and running adventures for the homeless dogs as they wait for their forever homes."
OK, dogs aside, I wanted to forward information about an event from our friends at Fishtown Beer Runners. "The 4th annual Fishtown RiverCity Festival - October 1st - will be kicked off with a 5k FUN RUN through the Fishtown Neighborhood. 21+ includes endless beer cup at the RiverCity Beer Tent!
